Cygames developed the multimedia franchise known as Uma Musume: Pretty Derby where they anthropomorphize notable racehorses into spirited horse girls (or “Uma Musume). The horse girls train at Tracen Academy in Tokyo, with aspirations of becoming top tier racers and idols. The anime first debuted in 2018 and had new seasons released in 2021 and 2023 with new characters taking center stage each time like Special Week, Tokai Teio and Kitasan Black. There are other figures in the franchise as well include actresses from the anime: “Umayon” and “Umayuru” along with the more dramatic “Road to The Top.” Further expanding the franchise is the 2024 movie ‘Beginning of a New World’ and the 2025 anime series ‘Cinderella Gray.’ In 2021, Japan released a mobile game combining training simulation, racing, and idol management all in one. Players guide the chosen Uma Musume through intensively structured training regimens to set new records. For the rest of the world, the game will be available in English on June 26, 2025 for iOS, Android and PC via Steam, with pre-registration beginning on April 28. The aim of the global launch is to widen access to the franchise's distinct mix of athletic competition, musical performance, and narrative.
