Sabikui Bisco
Sabikui Bisco or Rust-Eater Bisco is a Japanese light novel series created by Shinji Cobkubo with illustrations by K Akagishi and mocha doing the world building art. The series has published 10 volumes as of early 2025 under ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Bunko imprint since March 2018. Combat di Bisco Akaboshi, the main character of the story, is a young mushroom keeper who is on a quest to find the mythical Rust-Eater mushroom that, when consumed, would prevent further corroding of the world. He uses a bow that sprouts mushrooms upon impact and sails across post-apocalyptic Japan alongside Milo Nekoyanagi, a kind-hearted doctor. Together, they try to navigate a filled eland teeming with mystery, danger, and intrigue. The series has two adaptations into manga, the first being with Yūsuke Takahashi as an illustrator which ran from April 2019 to March 2021, coming out with a total of 4 volumes. Then came Sō Natsuki’s second which started in December 2021 and ended in October 2022 with 3 volumes in total. The first part of the story was adapted into an anime by Studio OZ which started broadcasting in January and finished in March 2022. They have already announced a second season which Studio OZ will be working on again. Anime Corner The anime world is buzzing with news an adventure anime involving Bisco and sabitsuki airs for the first time. His preliminary trailer demonstrates a unique infusion of post-apocalyptic action, adventure, and environmental themes characteristic of “Sabikui Bisco”.
