Dr. Stone is a Japanese manga written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from March 2017 to March 2022, and its chapters were adapted into 27 tankōbon volumes. The plot centers around a scientific prodigy named Senku Ishigami, who plans to restore civilization after humanity was enigmatically petrified for 3,700 years. In the North American region, the manga is licensed by Viz Media. In January 2019, Shueisha commenced English simulpublishing of the series on their website and app, Manga Plus. A television anime adaptation produced by TMS Entertainment aired on Tokyo MX from July to December 2019. A second season, Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, aired in January to March 2021. A television special which takes place between the second and third seasons, Dr. Stone: Ryusui, released in July 2022. The series was then continued with a third season titled Dr. Stone: New World, airing in two split cours from April to June 2023, and October to December 2023. A fourth and final season, Dr. Stone: Science Future, is set to premiere in January 2025, planned for three split cours. The manga had over 18 million copies in circulation by December 2024. In 2019, Dr. Stone won the 64th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category.
